Here are a few research studies showing the effectiveness of flower essences. Flower essence ingredients are generally recognized as safe when assembled using Good Manufacturing Practices, which Custom Essence Blends follows.
A randomized controlled study Researches recognized the lack of studies evaluating the effectiveness of Bach Flower Therapy and music therapy on the anxiety level of pediatric dental patients receiving teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment. Significantly better behavior was seen in children from the Bach Flower Therapy group as compared to the control group.

A 2010 double-blind, placebo-controlled study published by Salles and da Silva in the journal Acta Paul Enferm was set up to investigate the effects of the flower essences impatiens, cherry plum, white chestnut and beech in anxious people. As a double-blind study, neither the participants nor the medical professionals knew whether a participant was getting the authentic flower essence or a harmless placebo.
Study participants using the flower essences had a larger and statistically significant reduction in anxiety level in comparison to the placebo group.
The study administrators concluded that flower essences have a positive effect on the reduction of anxiety.

Saira R. Rivas-Suárez, MD et al studied the use of flower essence remedies on patients with mild to moderate carpel tunnel syndrome, a repetitive motion injury that can cause severe pain, tingling, numbness and loss of strength in the hand. Authors of the randomized pilot placebo-controlled study concluded that a cream containing a Bach Flower Remedy could be an effective intervention in the management of mild and moderate carpal tunnel syndrome, reducing the severity symptoms and providing pain relief.

Noting that the Bach Flower Essence remedies have been a popular complementary remedy since 1930, but have not been extensively studied, Authors Robert Halberstein, PhD, et al, evaluated Bach Flower Essence “Rescue” in a double-blind clinical trial of nursing students. They concluded the natural remedy showed promise in helping study participants overcome high levels of situational anxiety during an academic testing situation.

A 2014 paper published by Margarida Maria de Carvalho Resende et al in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine studied the preventive use of Bach flower Rescue Remedy in the control of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in rats. The authors of the randomized longitudinal experimental study concluded that Bach flower Rescue Remedy was effective in controlling blood sugar levels, triglycerides, and HDL- cholesterol and may serve as a strategy for reducing risk factors for cardiovascular disease in rats. This study provides some preliminary “proof of concept” data that Bach Rescue Remedy may exert some biological effects, opening the door to further research in humans.
